About this event

Your children will gain knowledge, perspectives, and simple skills they can use to learn how to interact with and include ALL children. The event activities teach about specific disabilities and conditions in a way that enables them to be more empathetic to others in any situation. This will help them build empathy skills that they will take with them into the world. Empathetic children are more successful in social situations, show less aggression, and are highly valued by their friends, colleagues, and future employers.

Walk In My Shoes is an interactive workshop offered in more than a dozen FCPS schools, as well as schools in FL, IL, and NJ. This is our first time bringing it to the community! The cost is $10 per child. Adults are free. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

  • Early bird tickets are available until 5/31! Only $8 per child!

  • There will be a free raffle for a chance to win children's books!

  • We have some free spaces reserved for school observers who would like to learn more about the program!

  • The workshop will start promptly at 3 pm.

  • Spanish-language interpretation is available upon request. Contact margaret.behrns@gmail.com for more information.

  • Masks are highly recommended. We are watching the increase in rates carefully and this policy may tighten or relax based on the rates of infection in our area.
